My mom is adorable. She's completely ignorant to the vegan lifestyle.
She is the most naive person I know.
I went to her place yesterday for the first time in 5 years! Yes, 5
years! They have been smokers for as long as I can remember and have
recently quit. Well, not really positive on that but they no longer
smoke in the house upstairs.
It was a little surreal being there. Not much has changed but yet a
lot has. They even still have my best friends wedding invitation next
to their phone. My friend got married in 2004!
Mom had us over for a norwex party and she brought out a buffet of
food. I went and helped myself to my usual vegan(at someone else's
house safe food) pickles, triscuits, fruit and veg. Mom hollers at me
to try her nanaimo bars.
"Ummm, Mom... I'm vegan. Remember??"
"Oh, they are vegan" she says.
Riiiiight.
"So, you're telling me there is no butter in these? No dairy?"
"Ahhhh no. There's jello"
Bingo! Not vegan. I knew it! Doesn't really matter this is not the
point.
This gets her thinking. I sit down with my plate and she says
"So? Why do you eat yogurt then? That's not vegan."
"I don't" I say.
"Well, why do I see you checking into Moksha for hot yogurt all the time?"
OMG!!
I can't stop laughing!
"Uhhh, Mom? Moksha is Hot Yoga! Not yogurt!"
Bless her heart. She was totally confused and still incredibly naive.
